I wish “Arresting and Zip Tying Children in Chicago” was the title of a fictional horror film or a headline I made up. But it’s true. ICE agents stormed an apartment building in Chicago in the wee hour of the morning while families slept, using Black Hawk helicopters and military style vehicles. They forced people out of their beds, ZIP TIED CHILDREN who were US Citizens, separating them from their parents. Then they trashed the apartments. One witness said, the people were “terrified. The kids was crying. People was screaming” Here’s the news report. To me, these are Gestapo tactics, designed to terrorize people and make them submit (and worse) to an authoritarian regime.
What is your “line in the sand?” That after they cross it, you will become more active, more vocal, and more impactful? This invasion seems to me a line that every American should consider the Rubicon.
But it’s not enough to hit the angry emoji on your social media and “share” this news. We have to be visible and vocal in the next “No Kings” rally, Sat Oct 18, and surpass June 14th’s No Kings national gathering of 5 Million people. The purpose of No Kings is to make it clear that we will not be passive when an authoritarian is trying to take our jobs, our future, and our Constitution from us. And only you, individually and collectively have the power to send this message.
